Hey guys, and welcome to my sixth blog entry. Due to Hurricane Sandy and the power outages, I was unable to post this blog. I will make this blog extra long because of the inconvenience. Anyways, I am going to focus on pressure again – peer pressure to be exact. Let’s pretend you guys are divided into three groups, those who pressure others to do things, those who are being pressured to do things and those who are neither. Sometimes peer pressure is good, but other times it’s bad. I am going to focus on those who are being pressured to do things in this blog entry.
First, I would like to say to those who are being pressured to do these negative things to stand up for yourself. If you don’t want to take drugs, then don’t. If you don’t want to go to a party, then don’t. If you do want to drink that can of soda, then go ahead. The point is that you should do what you want to do. You have the choice to pick what is it that you want. We have free will, so why should we let others decide what we should do?
If I want to vote, I’ll vote. If I wish to go bowling with my friends, then I’ll bowl. I can do what i want because I’m not afraid to say no. I’m not afraid of being rejected and neither should you. Some of you might say, Well i want to keep my friends or I want to be cool and popular. I also know that some of you might be saying well who will use these reasons? Well, you will be surprised by the number of people who would base their actions on these reasons. Perhaps you use something similar to help you decide. Well, if keeping my friends, being popular, and being accepted by those around me means that I have to do whatever my “friends’” say, then I would rather be a social outcast at the bottom of the social hierarchy. If what these people you call friends have to pressure you to do something that you are fully against, I suggest finding some new ones. What if this friend has been with you for a very long time? Well, you have to either leave that person too or change them for the better. This may seem like i want you to pressure them, but it’s not. If your intentions are good and positive, then I support you 100%. Help that person you care about before it’s too late. If they don’t want to change just leave them alone. They will come through in the end. But if this certain person is doing something life-threatening or very idiotic, then I suggest you use all the power you can to stop them.
Back to my point: We,as human beings, have the choice to do what we wish to do. Whether the action is positive or negative, they have the choice and they will be responsible for that action. I know I probably went on a little rant, but I really care about my viewers and want nothing bad to happen to you guys. So, please take what I have to say seriously. Until next week, bye guys.
~Love, KitKat~
