Don't Follow The Crowd

Hey guys, and welcome to 10th entry. I recently read something that got me thinking. It was basically about mainstreamers and how a person changes their likes, dislikes, appearance etc. for another person or group of people. Well here is what I have to say to this.

People have free will. They do whatever it is they want to do because they have free will. Only in certain situations is a person unable to control his or her actions, such a multiple personality disorder or being threatened. Other than that, a person is free to do what they want. So if you want to like a boy band because your friends all like them or if you want to do drugs because you want to be cool, that’s all on you. You are the one who wants to smoke or drink or like a band. You had control of your actions and nobody forced you to do anything. You had a choice and a lot of people forget that. We have a choice. Our lives are mostly based on decisions. Whether you say yes or no, it is all on you. You are no one’s puppet.

For “mainstreamers”, there is nothing wrong with liking a new trend or style, but don’t like it just because everybody else is. You should have a reason for liking a certain band or phase. Remember that we have free will and can like or dislike whatever we want. For example, One Direction is mainstreamed. People supposedly love them, but the only song they know is What Makes You Beautiful. Some people do not even know all the names of the boys. They only know that they are good-looking and sing well.

So don’t follow the crowd. Make your own path and don’t care about what others have to say about your decision. The best thing about a decision made from you is that you have a feeling of freedom and relief, as if you are not being tied down. Go and be different in life because your personality and opinions are what makes you special. Please use your free will to do what is right, which is avoid drugs and underage drinking.
