Gun Control

Hello guys, and welcome back to my blog. This entry is somewhat off topic but I hope you will still enjoy it anyway.

As most of you know, the shooting in Connecticut is a big topic. People are devastated and heartbroken. It is difficult to read, hear and write about a topic as overwhelming as this one. It seems that all of a sudden people are worried about gun control. I am not saying that they shouldn’t take precautions. However, did 20 little kids need to die in order for America to find out that not everyone can be trusted with firearms?

A gun is like superpowers―it takes a lot of responsibility to handle one. I believe that we should only let people who are cops, FBI, etc. have a gun. The background check for people who want to own a gun does not tell whether or not they feel like going on a killing spree in 5 years or 5 days. I understand that some people need a way of self-defense, but there are always martial arts, a pocket knife and/or mace. I’m not trying to encourage your decision to carry or learn something that can do harm to others, but if you are the type of person that feels the need to have extra protection, then do as you please.

Secondly, I would like to point out that this is not the first massacre that has happened in America. A lot more things similar to what happened in Connecticut happened in the past. Many of them happened in schools as well like colleges and high schools. The victims may not have been 6 years old but they were still young and had their whole life ahead of them. What made what happened in Connecticut any different than the shooting that happened at Virginia Tech?

If it is because of age difference then the reason is not sufficient. If America had done something in the past, none of this would have happened. Of course none of us would have suspected a tragedy like this to happen, and that is what people do not understand. The world is not full of happy, outgoing people who says greetings to their neighbor and go to church every Sunday. The world is filled with the majority of people not caring about whoever lives next to them unless something tragic happens.

We need to take action now so that something like this never happens again. We need laws and protection in order to be somewhat assured that a loved one will not be harmed anytime soon by a gun. I for one do not want to know that a person I care deeply about is murdered by a man-made weapon that was originally created to protect us. I think we all need to take that step out of our comfort zone to see that the world is not all about happiness and that if we don’t do something now, the same thing that happened in Connecticut will happen again.

I hope you are pleased with my blog entry. Pray for those who were affected by the shooting and may they be in a better place.

  1. Thank you! This is disappointing, not only gun controlling but in many other things. It seems that a tragedy has to happen before people take action.
